Hotels in Sihanoukville (Snooky!)

If you are backpacking around Cambodia then Sihanoukville aka ‘Snooky’ is certainly a place you must visit. Check out this Wikitravel guide.

You can live on the beach cheaper than you ever imagined because Sihanoukville hotels are so cheap, as is everything else in the city. Compare 170+ Snooky hotels on Booking.com.

With hotels as low as $5 for rooms with no aircon or $10-$15 for rooms with aircon you have lots of freedom to come and go as you please and don’t have to pay a lot for it.

Best location for Hotels in Sihanoukville

I think the best place to stay in Sihanoukville is right by Serendipity Beach.  That is right in the middle of the tourist area and is a safe place to make home base.  There will be lots of western food walking distance away and of course the beach is close too.  The beach is the main attraction so you might as well pick a Sihanoukville hotel near it.

Smile Guesthouse

Smile Guesthouse has a great location only a couple hundred meters from the beach yet is still very well priced.  Depending on the season you can get a room for $10-$15 a night with aircon, or $5 with no aircon.  They also will be negotiable on long term stays.

There is a bar and restaurant on site and the staff is very friendly.  The main selling point of this hotel is the location though.  You just can’t beat it, yet you don’t have to pay extra for it. Last I checked they aren’t on Booking.com or Agoda (a Koh Rong island one with the same name is) but they should have rooms available for walk ins.

Cinderella

Cinderella is not far from Smile and is a bit closer into town.  It has nice quiet rooms and is a very cozy and comfortable place.  The prices are about the same as smile at $15 a night for a room with aircon.  They also have a bar on site.

It is near many western restaurants as well and has a nice central location.  Sihanoukville is a pretty small place so you never will be too far away from where you are going.

The Serendipity Road Cinderella isn’t on Agoda either but everyone will know it. They also have a separate place, Cinderella Beach Bungalows on Otres Beach, on Agoda here. Same owners.

Cambodian Resort

Hotels in Sihanoukville

Cambodian Resort is the most expensive hotel on this list coming in at around $35 a night depending on the season.  The rooms are a bit nicer than the others and there should be a refrigerator in the room and a very nice pool.

Cambodian Resort Gym

The main selling point for Cambodian Resort is that it has a great gym.  If you like to keep getting in your workouts when you are on vacation then this is the place for you.  You can also visit the gym as a guest paying a daily, monthly, or tri-monthly fee.

Charlie Harper’s

Charlie Harper’s is located downtown.  It is a little ways away from the beach but a motodop will have you there in 5-10 minutes for a $1 or $2.  Charlie Harper’s has a lively bar down stairs and is a very popular spot with expats.  If you are a poker player they run games there a couple nights a week as well.

This is a good place to go for someone new in town that wants to get the lay of the land.  The owner runs a Sihanoukville forum and knows most all there is to know about the place.  And if he doesn’t know it one of the other expats sitting around the bar will.

I wouldn’t really stay there though, the rooms aren’t as nice as the others, and you can’t walk around at night with everything close by. But it’s useful for the other aspects.
