Why Filipinos Are Annoying Neighbors

Despite being a cheapskate one thing that I don’t mind overpaying for when living in the Philippines is accommodation.

On top of being in a better location and not signing a 6+ month lease there is another hidden perk – no noisy Filipino neighbors.

filipino-neighbors-annoying

When you overpay for an apartment you are mostly going to live next to other expats. They are generally old guys that keep to themselves and don’t make much noise. Can’t really beat that for a neighbor.

Not only can most Filipinos not afford to stay in the places we stay they know they are terrible value even if they can.

Why Filipinos Make Bad Neighbors

#NoRacist, and I have nothing against Filipinos (and certainly nothing against Filipinas hehehe) but these are the reasons why they make pretty bad neighbors.

Music Non Stop

Do you like listening to love songs all the time? Well if you have Filipino neighbors expect them to be playing music non stop.

They will likely keep their windows and sometimes even doors open so everyone around them also gets treated to their music. I can only hear John Legend sing about perfect imperfections and how even when he loses he is winning so many times.

Noise Overnight

They will also keep very odd hours and be up all night.

Granted I do the same, but I am super quiet and know at 3am we shouldn’t be having a party in a hallway or a common area next to other peoples rooms.

Googled it and instantly found a Pinay saying she was thinking of sound proofing her house, so I’m not the only one with noisy Filipino neighbors.

Parties

One time I was living at a hotel that did 1 month stays when the people from the massage shop next door decided to pool together and rent a room for a month. The place was pretty cheap, but still way more than Filipinos would generally pay.

The quality of living there dropped drastically once they moved in. They would throw small parties a few nights a week. That’s fine, nothing wrong with that.

The reason it was a problem is because they would have the party in a common area that had 4 rooms (including mine) right next to it. The hotel staff became friends with them and there was really no way to get them to stop.

Filling Shared Areas

Their room was big enough and there were only a few people out there. They had no reason to be in the hallway, yet they were there from 10pm to 4am a few nights a week.

There was a shared kitchen at this place and they would use all of the dishes and either keep them in their room or never wash them. It was basically like having a really terrible roommate.

Trash Everywhere

They also left garbage everywhere…. it really got so much worse when they were there that I would have moved out anyway, but luckily I was near the end of my stay.

The only other Filipino family I can remember living there was bad for a different reason. They didn’t throw parties and they didn’t leave a mess. But they had kids.

Children

Filipinos often don’t have control of their kids in public places, and it’s even worse at home.

Granted I feel like a crotchety old man complaining about a kid having fun….. but there were times where the noise level was really crossing the line.

If it’s not kids then its barking dogs.

Lack of Awareness

Pretty much every hotel I have stayed at in Asia has signs in the hallway demanding SILENCE yet hotels in Asia are ten times louder than ones in the US. Funny how that works out.

When I wrote about how there is a lot of rude behavior in Asia I mentioned a lack of self awareness and how people here don’t realize their actions affect others. Well it is not fun to live next to people that have a complete lack of self awareness.

can’t hear anything in my $300 26th floor bangkok condo, fwiw

    • RAH says:

Hahaha. Now I will have to check this place out. I have moved 4 times in a year trying to get away from loud Filipinos. I have come to the conclusion that a condo high up is the only way; and an expensive one too.

      • Mike42night says:

Being in high up building limits the number of mosquitos and other types of creatures from entering as well, being in Brazil I can related to the noise issues especially the barking dogs. All of this is made worse by the lack of air tight doors and windows in many of the houses.

As a Filipino I can say I agree with you
          Filipinos are like cockroaches
Every where they go , they breed hate and disgust

That’s what I felt when I went to the states hahaha

  2. Skins says:

Lol man I got a laugh out of this one… I also hate to bitch but man, Vietnamese have to be the noisiest people on the planet! The good thing is they go to sleep early but they rise very early too. They are either napping or shouting. Nothing in between.

This place is so fuckin noisy with the traffic, horns, construction, loud kareoke I swear they’re all deaf. They scream at each other when they talk even if they’re sitting next to each other!

I agree, spending a few bucks to get away from the madness is a good move.

the constant noise pollution in the philippines is enough to drive a man insane

i was at a gym in cebu and there were TWO soundsystems blaring TWO DIFFERENT songs at the same time in one room

even in the super market they play this mickey-mouse-techno music at high volumes

ive never seen as much retarded shit as in the philippines

  5. Unfortunately common in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, China, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, etc. This isn’t limited to the Philippines or even Asia but is common in underdeveloped countries with little education and sense of social conscience — which also happen to be the countries where Western guys can go to buy cheap sex.

People in developed countries like South Korea, Singapore and Japan know better and sex isn’t too expensive in those places either (sometimes even cheaper than the poorest countries), but prostitution isn’t catered to foreigners since they’re not required to keep the industry going so few Western guys go there to buy sex. Things like apartments also cost normal prices for developed countries but they come with things like building standards and working fire escapes so in my opinion it is worth it.

  6. kick2dante says:

Philippines is way worse for this then Cambodia, I can’t really judge it against any other country though

  7. kick2dante says:

those are isolated incidents, instead in the philippines you have 7/11 blaring music outside 24/7 365, and neighbors outside at 4am singing love songs that they are listening to on youtube

cambodia is a conservative country and most locals are quietly tucked into bed at 9pm…… in the philippines they are up at all hours of the night and are much louder

    • RAH says:

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. PHILIPPINES IS THE GOD AWFUL WORST WHEN IT COMES TO NOISE. I LITERALLY, LITERALLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING INSANE. THE PEOPLE, THE MUSIC, WHEN IT FINALLY STOPPED THE DOGS (WTF IS IT WITH THESE DOGS HERE….THEY’RE NOW HUMAN LIKE THE ONES IN US, LOL) THE GOATS, THE FUCKING ROOSTERS, THE COWS THAT SOMEONE PUT BACK OF YOUR PROPERTY TO EAT AND MOO ALL DAY THE TRYKES, JUST ENDLESS NOISE.

      • kick2dante says:

ya and the more ive traveled around the more i realize how right i was

someone said cambodia…. lol walk 2 minutes out of the bar streets and every other street is dead silent at 9pm, phils is a shit show late into every night

  8. Dave says:

Filipinos are pretty evil neighbors. Loud all the time. They also make their cars loud to wake people up at night.

    Evil.

  9. kick2dante says:

haha i don’t think they do it in a sinister way….. but maybe :p

  10. NSL says:

Hi Dante. I am Filipino but I hate my country precisely because of the noise I hear in Manila. Love songs play pretty much everywhere, and some karaoke joints play music till 3 or 4 a.m. (Davao is an exception to the rule — I think there’s a no-karaoke curfew starting 10 pm)

I’d like to advise readers here NOT to visit the Philippines during election campaign season if they can’t afford to stay in pricey but quiet locations. Lots of vehicles attach loudspeakers and blare campaign jingles of their respective candidates as early as 7 a.m. Sometimes this goes on until 7:30 p.m. I live in front of intersecting streets, so I have no choice but to endure the noise.

  11. kick2dante says:

    hey thanks for the tip

overall i love the philippines but the noise pollution is off the charts

  12. Jim Taskie says:

The main reason Filipinos are bad neighbours is because they are generally as ”thick as tree stumps” with little or no education , the average school leaver has the education standard of a ten year old American child and an even younger European, Noise to a Filipino is a show of wealth as is the amount of trash they acuminate around their accommodation, bottles, bits of motor bikes, plastic old clothes scabby dogs barking all day and night. In short the Filipinos are immature, ignorant, lazy, dirty people , doomed to be third world dwellers for ever. I will never return to these Islands, Some one once wrote The problem with the Philippines is that they are infested with Filipinos. I have to agree

    • RAH says:

This what you say is a hard pill, especially if you love a filipina and love the beauty of the country but it is VERY, VERY TRUE. I don’t see it changing anytime soon. Funny I was thinking yesterday the Philippines would be almost perfect place if you took the Filipinos out of it. They mess up what is a paradise with their stupidity and lack of awareness. After three years I have figured that the only or best place IS to pay more to live around old fart expats in peace and pussy. I loved paying $177 a month for a nice small house but damn the REAL price literally drove me insane.

    • Anonymous says:

Totally agree I live in a sub division barking dogs all day and they could dare less the house across the street I can hear them talking in there house they got big mouth can’t talk at a normal voice level God put some between there shoulder but it empty when it comes to common sense and brains

  13. Robbie says:

I had noisy filipino neighbours to who would throw parties every week 3am in the morning and music is still bluring and them shouting over the top of one another. Loud cars and working on their cars after midnight thank Christ they eventually moved out they were hell to live next to

  14. malaya says:

I’m a Filipino, and yes, I agree most people here are noisy. I can’t even concentrate on my homework because the neighbors are having videoke nonstop. Most people equate fun with being loud. I love my country, flaws and all, but I can’t stand the noise especially during fiesta. Mind you, we have fiestas and holidays almost every month, and celebration’s not complete without singing and partying. even worse, when you’re an introvert like me, they’re gonna label you as an antisocial-asshole-who-doesn’t-know-how-to-socialize. this is not the country for introverts.

  15. Karl Leopold says:

What irritates me is the accent of people in the Philippines when speaking English. They speak from the back of their throats and in a high-pitched, nasal, mechanical voice. They also have no volume control, and they shout as though they were speaking in a windstorm when talking to you in a quiet room indoors. One person admitted that “we have no indoor voice because we spend so much time outside.” Aside from their accent, they are generally nice people.

  16. SouthernAdventurer says:

Thats why I love Calyx lol. I’m on the 20th floor I can sleep whenever I want. No roosters, dogs barking, or loud neighbors. I swear I woke up to a turkey gobbling in La Guardia lol. Plus I don’t have to worry about some crazy bitch showing up out of the blue. The elevator wont work without a card.

  17. Anonymous says:

Then when u ask them to turn it down they tell you to leave their country.

  18. Anonymous says:

Being an introvert is really difficult when you live in the Philippines. The country is just full of retarded inconsiderate drunkard low I.Q peope who like to sing karaoke all day until early morning with their ugly irritating voice.

    • Tracey says:

I am a pure filipino and i couldnt agree more. I always wish that a lightning would hit them and everyone around that stupid videoke would die.

Pinoys are the most annoying people. Alone they act innocent. When u have 2 together, expect a noisy experience. Plays loud music disregarding other people around them. Hello! The universe doesn’t revolve around u pinoys! Bunch of party animals with no civic or moral attitude. If they are a buy well off, u can expect more disrespect from these morons.

  21. Anonymous says:

Yes very true, most Filipinos lack awareness and they dont care about others. They buy a car and park it on the street. They make their cars and motorcycle make more noise. They lack education and culture. They are also very emotional especially if they use the “mahirap lng ksi ako” card. If you call on them for being too noisy, they will hold a grudge and someday make you some problems. These people are parasites by nature.

    • Lophophora says:

This is true. I live in Europe and my next door is a filipino familly. This 28 year old woman was making so much noise late at night and playing LOUD music around 3am that i just couldnt take it,i was sleep deprived and i complained…it has been 2 years since i complained and her and her whole family, and their freaking guests are harrassing me every single day and night since the day i complained. Every day and night
constant banging on shared walls on purpose, keeping me awake, they never sleep, and they became obsessed with me. Literally every day and every night, for the entire day and night, they are stomping, banging our shared walls and laughing like maniacs, they guests do it too,and then they talk about me in front of their house, right next to my bedroom window. But i believe this woman has some serious mental issues, and her mother is covering up for her. They even told me those are ghosts banging on my walls at night…they have completely destroyed my mental health during these past 2 years.

I live in Canada in a Condo/ Townhouses. There are 5 Units here with Filipinos living in them and ALL are dirty and loud! Kids friggn screaming, or their dogs barking late at night, dirty ass mess outside. Hanging dirty diapers off the brand new mailboxes (Places were recently renovated) My neighbors right across from me have not cleaned the SAME MESS in almost 1 yr! I had to call the city bylaw debt to report a few of the units, since the condo board does jack shit…. Im not racist and im not white. But every Filipino I have lived around, or worked with etc has been two faced, dirty, shady and gossipy. Oh and they have a shit ton of cars that are illegally parked with the mufflers taken out – so effing annoying….Im moving in a few weeks cant wait!

  23. Jasper Laguitao says:

as a pinoy im also ashamed of being pinoy. i hoped i was italian or french

  24. Lori says:

I have some as neighbors, really loud, inconsiderate noise all day and night, BAD neighbors, they are in their 80’s, and I hope they die really soon, I have been praying for their deaths!!..now I absolutely HATE the whole race of them!!!

  25. hopeless says:

Lived in a big condo complex next to some food places. At 7 IN THE MORNING, music goes on at FULL VOLUME. Mind you they weren’t even open to customers then. I don’t mind some louder music on Friday or Saturday night but on Monday morning, WTF? Complaining about them, they seemed confused. What planet are these types of pinoys from? Certainly not earth.

Few hours later, some tenant puts his bass laden dance music on and the whole condominium is vibrating. That goes on for the whole day. You complain and they look at you weird.

Now I have a neighbor that opens all the windows and blasts retarded old love songs from the radio all day. Of course the volume is abnormally high and she talks like she is half deaf.

Are these types of Filipinos scared that if it’s too quiet, they might accidentally have a thought in their brain or what?

  26. Anonymous says:

So true, i was a student living in an apartment in davao. My neighbors are always noisy. There are nearly 5-7 apartments and houses nearby atleast 3 of them are playing music at same time with doors open. I mean it may be pleasurable for them because they are nearby the sound system. But hearing 3 different songs and musics at a same time is irritating. As it affects my studies i told my neighbor apartment (as i hear theirs music loud than others) twice atleast to close the door when they hear music loud. They closed it once i said. And the next day again they opened back again. If they want to hear music that loud why can’t they hear music in their own private space or houses. Why only in rental apartments. Anyways i am going to stay here for only one more month. I am happily gonna leave this place, with worst memories.

  27. Anonymous says:

Even though they play music and irritate some people are kind and nice though. But there are few people destroying good people’s name by acting racists and discriminating other people by ethnicity. Lets see only good things. I am in davao and i also irritated by their music. I am hoping to leave to a quiet peaceful place. But playing music may be their hobby. The thing that make me more irritated is even though i told them i am a student and their music is not letting me study, they are again playing loud music with doors open. I am trying to ignore it by using cotton , headphones etc.. but i hope one they they think about others too. If they want to hear loud music they can use headphones. I hope they understand and make this beautiful country proud

  28. ELMER says:

they are annoying and stupid. uneducated, overweight, disgusting food, and unattractive. the only “skill” they seem to have is gossiping and being tacky. they are truly a failed group of people. and don’t get me started on how they ALL seem to think they are “half” spanish. no, honey, you were colonized hence your spanish names but you are NOT white/european. go back to bleaching your skin.

  29. GuidoSexMachine says:

@Elmer – Yea but many Filipina girls are hot and sexxxy and have super tight poons. Who cares how intelligent they are. Most Filipina bitches are nice and willing to please. I always bust a nut in their mouth and they usually swallow.. Also Flip girls are usually willing to rim me good and “toss my salad.” They’re also willing to try anal sexxx. I love goin balls deep into those tight Flip A-holes. Many of them also say “you dont have to wear a condom and u can cum in my tight butthole.” Even so, I usually wear a condom anyway but the thought of busting a nut in a tight Flip pussy and anus is enough for me to blow a big load and tear off condom and shoot a big greasy load of jizz into the Filipina’s mouth and face. Give her a facial and good money shot. Haha 😋
